Angry marketers who used to occupy the forcefully demolished Owerri main market have barricaded the Imo state Government house in protest, demanding to speak with Goernor Rochas Okorocha.

The traders who blocked the main gate to the government house carryng various placards were uncontrollable as the security men tried to ensure free flow of traffic in and out of the compound.

The traders who were relocated to the Naze industrial cluster after the demolition comlained of neglect. One of the traders who spoke with newsmen said "the government just sent us to the Naze Industrial cluster for selfish reason. We are suffering here. Hunger is killing most of us. Our perishable goods get destroyed because nobody comes to buy from us and our wefare is not guaranteed"

According to them, the state government did not stay true to the agreements they had as  some traders were still being allowed to trade in parts of the Owerri main market.

"They asked us to move to industrial cluster we obeyed but they allowed others to be trading there. As I speak to you there is trading at the demolished Owerri main market even street trading along the Douglas road. It wasn't part of our bargain with government" one of the traders said.
