The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is seeking approval to be able to retain percentages of funds recovered by it for its operation.

The commission formally made the request in a memorandum submitted by its Acting Chairman, Abdullahi Bako to the House of Representativess Committee on Anti-Corruption. The request is one of the proposals made by the commision in the memo to the National Assembly.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission reportedly had similar requests. The EFCCs Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu stated at an anti-corruption conference in Abuja that it was common practice globally  for anti-graft agencies to retain certain percentages of the proceeds of loots recorvered by them.
