Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos has said that the current situation in Kaduna educationministry calls for retraining and not sack as reports have suggested.

In a remark during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, Oba Akiolu said “...this issue of teachers failing examinations in Kaduna, for me, there should be training and retraining of teachers.

“This will make us get the best of them that can compete anywhere with their counterparts,”

About 22,000 teachers in Kaduna State had recently failed primary four examinations in the state leading to reports of a mass sack excercise by the Nasir El-Rufai led administration.

In response to tweets by Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State lambasting the Kaduna State govenments decision to sack teachers, Gov. Nasir El-Rufai stated thathis administration was not sacking teachers but was replacing unqualified teachers with qualified ones.

Kaduna state has since received over 40,000 applications for teaching jobs in the state.

What training can be given to teachers that failed primary 4 exam, I don't think they deserve to be teachers because you can't give what you don't have.
