The move by the Federal Government to take control of resources in all body of water in the country has continued to draw the attention of stakeholders in the Niger Delta region.

A bill titled Water Resources Bill, seeking to achieve this is currently before the National Assembly.

A group known as the Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence say the bill does not mean well for the people of the region.

President of the group, Christian Lekia, at a press conference urged the Federal Government to review its decision on the bill because the people of the Niger Delta who depend solely on water resources would be dispossessed of their environment and sources of livelihood.

Mr. Lekia also called on the people of the Niger Delta region to stand up against the Water Resources Bill.
