
Nigeria has recorded 236 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number confirmed cases in the country to 65,693.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this via its official tweeter handle on Wednesday.
The Health Agency said the new cases were reported from 14 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
According to the NCDC, of the new cases, 142 were recorded in Lagos, 19 in Ogun, 15 in Kaduna and 14 in FCT.
Other states with new cases include, Imo-14 Rivers-14 Plateau-6 Katsina-3 Ekiti-2 Jigawa-2 Oyo-2 Cross River-1 Kano-1 Taraba-1.
The NCDC said till date, 65,693 infections have been confirmed, 61,457 treated and discharged and 1,163 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
The centre said that it had activated a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre at Level III to coordinate the national response activities in the country.
The agency, therefore, advised Nigerians to continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols to stay safe, stressing that the Coronavirus pandemic was not over yet.
“Wear a face mask properly; avoid large gatherings, maintain physical distance from others.
“Let’s work together to protect ourselves and our country,” the centre advised.
