Nigeria has recorded 146 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number confirmed infections in the country to 65,839.

Announcing the new figures in a late night tweet on Thursday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed that the country also reported two new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours under review.

The Health Agency said the new cases were reported from 11 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.

According to the NCDC, of the new cases, 62 were recorded in Lagos, 23 in FCT, 21 in Kaduna and 12 in Ogun state.

Other states with new cases include, Rivers -12 Ondo-5 Oyo-3 Plateau-3 Bauchi-2 Katsina-2 Kano-1.

NCDC said till date, 65,839 infections have been confirmed, 61,573 treated and discharged and 1,165 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT Abuja.

The centre disclosed that it had activated a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre at Level III to coordinate the national response activities in the country.

The agency, therefore, advised Nigerians to continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols to stay safe, stressing that the Coronavirus pandemic was not over yet.

“Wear a face mask properly; avoid large gatherings, maintain physical distance from others.

“Let’s work together to protect ourselves and our country,” the centre advised.
