
Nigeria has recorded 1444 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 110,387.
Announcing the new figures in a late night tweet on Sunday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) disclosed that the country unfortunately recorded 15 new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours under review.
The Health Agency said the new cases were reported from 21 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
According to NCDC, Lagos state recorded 901 cases which is the highest number of daily infections recorded by any state since the first cases was confirmed in the country on February 27.
Other states with new cases include, Plateau-136 Kaduna-57 FCT-54 Ebonyi-53 Akwa Ibom-52 Nasarawa-32 Osun-29 Ogun-28 Imo-16 Oyo-16 Edo-15 Kano-14 Rivers-10 Ekiti-7 Borno-6 Abia-5 Benue-4 Yobe-4 Kebbi-3 Anambra-2.
NCDC said till date, 110,387 cases have been confirmed, 89,317 treated and discharged and 1,435 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT Abuja.
The centre reports that the country has tested 1,154,138 people since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 was recorded on Feb. 27, 2020.
NCDC said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, was coordinating response activities nationwide.
