Nigeria has recorded 1,617 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number confirmed infections in the country to 112,004.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) while disclosing this in a late night tweet on Monday, said the country unfortunately recorded 14 new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours under review.

The Health Agency said the new cases were reported from 18 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.

According to the NCDC, of the new cases, 776 were recorded in Lagos, 147 in Kaduna, 131 in Kwara, 102 in FCT and 78 in Plateau state.

Other states with new cases include, Edo-59 Ogun-53 Osun-45 Rivers-37 Taraba-36 Nasarawa-34 Adamawa-33 Kano-26 Delta-20 Ebonyi-16 Bayelsa-11 Gombe-11 Borno-2.

NCDC said till date, 112,004 infections have been confirmed, 89,939 treated and discharged and 1,449 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT.

The centre reports that the country has tested 1,172,234 people since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 was recorded on Feb. 27, 2020.

NCDC said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, was coordinating response activities nationwide.
