Some leaders of the PDP today, Friday, marched to the head quarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, with a demand for the commission to declare its candidate during the Osun state governorship election, Ademola Adeleke, winner of the polls.

The election which was conducted two weeks ago had the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, as winner.

The protesters were however dispersed by the police teargas as they marched on the Head Quarters of the Nigerian Police force.

Even if you achieve all those and more than anyone can ever imagine but fail in realising that you are not the first neither will you  be the last governor of Lagos state, you may have lost everything and prepared yourself to be cast into the bin of detested governor of all times.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state has conceded defeat and congratulated the winner of the Lagos state APC governorship primary, Babajide Sonwoolu.

In a state broadcast on Wednesday afternoon that lasted for about five minutes, the governor urged residents to support the candidate of the party.

He thanked the  National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, for the opportunity given him to serve the state.

Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, will be addressing a press conference this afternoon.

The press conference comes a day after the APC governorship primaries in the state which Babajide Sanwoolu won.

Gov. Ambode on Sunday, addressed  a press conference where he made uncharitable comments about his challenger for the APC ticket. 

Mr. Ambode described Mr. Sanwoolun as 'unfit for the office he is pushing for'.  He said the eventual winner of the APC governorship primary, was arrested in US for spending fake dollar notes in a club.

Oludayo Tade, Ibadan

The Academic Staff Union of Universities  has alleged that the Federal Government has concluded plans to hike tuition fees in Public varsities beginning from N350,000 per session.

The Ibadan Zone of ASUU, through its Zonal Coordinator, Dr Ade Adejumo told journalists that this was the position of the leader of Federal Government Team, led by Dr Wale Babalakin which the Union has resisted and asked Nigerians to join in the struggle.

Confusion reigns in the APC governorship primary scheduled to hold in Lagos state on Tuesday.  The panel appointed by the party's National Working Committee arrived the state on Monday evening, signaling that the election will hold as intended.

But by Tuesday afternoon, the panel says, voting is yet to commence, after election was completed at different wards over two hours ago. 

According to the panel, the primary couldn't have been carried out when electoral materials meant for the exercise are yet to be distributed.

Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode has urged APC National Working Committee panel appointed to conduct the Governorship Primaries in the State to do all within its powers to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants in the contest.
 
The Governor, who spoke when he received members of the panel led by its Chairman, Mr. Clement Ebri, said it was important that the election when conducted is seen to be free, fair and credible to all aspirants concerned, adding that it is only in such situation that democracy, which the party upholds is entrenched.

Embattled Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, has alleged that Governor Abiola Ajimobi, is against his governorship ambition for fear of being jailed.  

 

The comments which he made on Channels TV's Sunday Politics, come days after the minister was screened out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary for Oyo State, following a report that he did not participate in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) despite graduating from the University at the age of 25.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has emerged the 2019 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ortom defeated three other contestants; John Tondo, Paul Orhii and Felix Atume at the primary election.

The Chairman, PDP Electoral Panel for the state, Hajia Zainab Maina, announced that Ortom scored 2,210 votes to emerge the winner.

Tondo got 475 votes, while Atume and Orhii polled 44 and 10 votes respectively.

No invalid votes were recorded during the election.
