Putting a crown on a masterstroke, President Muhammadu Buhari has tendered an unreserved apology on behalf of the Nigerian people and Government to the family of the Late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola and other key actors of the June twelve struggle. 

President Buhari who spoke at the investiture ceremony conferring special  National honours on the late MKO Abiola,his running mate Babagana Kingibe and the late Gani Fawehinmi, 

He said the awards were not aimed at opening old wounds but were an attempt by government to right the wrongs of the past

A Federal Capital Territory High Court, Gudu, has found the former governor of Plateau state, Joshua Dariye, guilty of misappropriating N1.16 billion Ecological Fund meant for the state.

Sentencing is underway

He is the second former governor to be jailed in one month for corruption.  The first was the ex-governor of Taraba state, Jolly Nyame.

A presidential aspirant Donald Duke, on Tuesday said that his ambition was not backed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Duke, a former governor of Cross River, who recently declared his intention to run for the exalted office, told newsmen in Lagos that though he remained close to Obasanjo, his decision to run was personal.

“I am not hypocritical. I am close the former president but he is neither my sponsor nor backup. However, those who come up with these propaganda also go to get the ex-president’s endorsement.

Trouble seem not to be over for former President Olusegun Obasanjo as President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to reopen investigation into the unresolved murder of former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Bola Ige.

The directive also include fresh investigation into the killing of  a former Deputy National Chairman, South-South, of the PDP, Aminasoari Dikibo.

Both men were murdered when Chief Obasanjo was President and were considered politically motivated.

Muslim group under the umbrella of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has withdrawn its Law suit threat against Folarin Falana ‘AKA’ Falz over his controversial ‘This is Nigeria’ video.

The group had last week, given  a seven-day ultimatum to ‘Falz’ to withdraw the video and demanded an apology.

The music video pictured some girls in hijab dancing to the song’s rhythm.

More than 24 hours after the reported suicide on 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos, the Police is yet to release any information on what really happened and the identity of the victim.

In the absence of verified information from credible authority, speculations have become the order and with it, mere rumours appeared like facts.

The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 15 and Monday, June 18 as public holidays to celebrate the 2018 Id-el Fitr.

Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. M. Umar in Abuja on Monday.

He congratulated the Muslim faithful on a successful completion of the Ramadan and enjoined all Nigerians to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for the peace, unity, prosperity and stability of the nation.

A 21-year-old lady, Gift Mike, was today arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing her 48-year-old South African boyfriend, Daniel Grant. The accused, a cosmetologist, was arraigned on one count charge of murder.
 
According to the Prosecutor, CSP Effiong Asuquo,Gift committed the offence on May 5th at Room 201, Emerald Cove Hotel, No. 18B, Sinari Daranijo St., Victoria Island where she was lodging with the deceased. She killed him at about 1.30 a.m. on that day.

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of three Chilean bishops, including the controversial Juan Barros, following a child sex abuse scandal in Chile which has come to haunt his papacy.

The entire Chilean delegation of bishops tendered its resignation to the pope last month after a series of meetings at the Vatican.

The mass resignation of bishops is almost unheard of, having last happened two centuries ago.

Adamawa Ministry of Health has confirmed 19 new cases of cholera in Mubi North and Mubi South Local Government areas.

A statement on Monday by the Information Officer of the ministry, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, confirmed the incidents.
Abubakar said that so far, a total of 1,227 cases have been recorded within the past one month with 20 deaths, while 19 patients were still on admission at the treatment centre in Mubi General Hospital as at June 10.
