Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, rejected the results of the supplementary poll in which the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the All Progressives Congress candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, as the winner.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, the governor said the outcome of the election is evidence that democracy is dead in the country.

The National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has resolved to hold its National Convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The decision was taken at the NEC meeting which just ended at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja on Friday.

The venue of the convention had been a subject of controversy leading the Governor of Rivers state to threaten that he will not support aspirants that are opposed to the convention holding in Rivers state.

Plateau State Government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Jos North and Jos South Local Government Areas of  the state

Acting Secretary to the Government of the State, Richard Tokma, announced this in a statement issued on Friday in Jos.

Mr. Tokma said the decision to impose the curfew followed serious security report from on areas.

“Sequel to the security breach in parts of Jos North and Jos South, Gov. Simon Lalong has approved the imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the two local government areas with immediate effect, ” he said.

The Nigeria Air Force has confirmed the death of one of its pilots involved in the F-7Ni aircraft crash in Abuja.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, confirmed this in a statement issued on Friday.

The statement read in part, “It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce that one of the pilots who successfully ejected from one of the F-7Ni aircraft that crashed earlier today has passed on.

 “May his soul rest in peace. Additional details on the incident will be communicated,” Daramola said.

The Nigerian Police Force says there were no official complaints of violence or injury to persons reported at any Police Station/Division in all the 7 polling units where the re-run election was held on Thursday.

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, urged members of the public to disregard and discountenance claims in some sections of the media that Security Agencies intimidate Journalists, Election Observers and voters during the re-run election

A plane has crash in Abuja. The plane was seen losing altitude before crashing into the mountains around the Kubwa Expressway, within the federal capital territory.

Security operatives have cordoned off the site.  Journalists are prevented from gaining access to the crash site in Katampe hill outside the city centre.

Spokesman for the Airforce, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said the crash involving two  Nigerian Air Force aircraft taking part in the rehearsals for the 58th Independence Day Celebrations.

There is yet no information on possible casualties.

Traditional Leaders from the six geopolitical zones are currently in Jos to discuss the role of traditional rulers in community policing in Nigeria.

Some of the traditional rulers present are the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'ad Abubakar III, Igwe Nnaemela Alfred Ugochkwu Achebe the Obi of Onitsha, Da Jacob Gyang Buba among others. 

The one day retreat is organized by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, as part of engagement for the Senior Executive Course 40.

Though voting has commenced in some centres, a disturbing news from Osun state, where governorship re-run election is being held today say that some accredited media crew are barred from covering Olode polling unit of Ife South LG by the Police

A suspected thug in the full glare of Police officers had ordered the crew to leave the polling unit or be ready for serious consequence.

Police Commander in charge of the area orders the crew to leave the vicinity immediately that their safety cannot be guaranteed.

Following the agreement of the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore to form an alliance with the All Progressive Party (APC) for the Osun rerun election, one of the national leaders of SDP, Chief Olu Falae has insisted that the party will support the PDP candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

As reported by Punch, the spokesperson of Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Mr Olawale Rasheed confirmed that Chief Falae called  Adeleke to dissociate himself from Omisore’s decision stating that the party did not authorize Omisore to support APC.
