Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has raised alarm over a plot by the federal government to clamp down on him. 

A statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, alleged "...the (security) operatives are daily perfecting how to curtail the personal liberties of the former President and hang a crime on him."

The move by the Federal Government to take control of resources in all body of water in the country has continued to draw the attention of stakeholders in the Niger Delta region.
 
A bill titled Water Resources Bill, seeking to achieve this is currently before the National Assembly.
 
A group known as the Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence say the bill does not mean well for the people of the region.

The weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which normally holds on Wednesdays is not holding today, rather President Muhammadu Buhari will be meeting with the National Security Council (NSC) by noon.

The NSC meeting which normally holds on Mondays did not hold this week as a result of the 2 days public holiday, Friday March 30, and Monday April 2 declared by the Federal Government to mark Easter.

This is the fourth time the FEC meeting would be put off in the last three years.

It is yet another bad day at the National Assembly following the demise of a senior lawmaker,Senator Mustapha Bukar who was representing  Katsina North Senatorial district. He died in the morning of Wednesday April 4 2018 after a brief illness.

Until his death, he was a civil Engineer and a member of the All progressive Congress (APC). Born on December 31, 1954 in Daura.

This is coming less than a week to the death of Late Senator Umar Buba Jubril representing Lokoja/Kogi/Koton Karfe.

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Tuesday sacked the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Bernard Odoh.

He had earlier rejected the resignation of the SSG on the grounds that the letter was submitted during the public holidays.

The governor made this known at a rally in Government House, Abakaliki, by Ezza Ezekuna, a political pressure group.

He announced the immediate appointment of Dr. Hygenus Nwokwu as Odoh’s replacement, describing the new SSG as “a round peg in a round hole’’.

Following revelations that data was harvested from over 50 million Facebook accounts by Cambridge Analytica, the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has been asked to leave the board of Facebook. 

According to Mr Scott Stringer, an investor in Facebook who also oversees New York City's pension fund investments with a stake in the social media platform of over one billion dollars, the request is necessary to ensure user privacy protection.

Earlier, the Facebook CEO defended his leadership following criticism from Apple’s Tim Cook.

Former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, has accused the federal government of violating the Nigeria Constitution by putting him through two separate trials for the same criminal allegations.

Mr. Metuh who standing trial for allegedly receiving N400m illegally from the office of the National Security Adviser, said in a statement that the 'list of looters' releases by the federal government, where he was mentioned among others, exposed him to another trial in the media.

Mr.  Metuh went ahead to give the background to the charge against him.

There are indications that the former Kano state governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has given the go-ahead to his supporters to dump the All Progressives Congress. 

This was made known by his nephew, Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, even as there have been rumours of Kwankwanso's likely resignation from the APC. 

Iliyasu Kwankwaso, who is the present commissioner for special duties in Kano state, told Daily Trust that Kwankwaso was ready to decamp to the PDP for the actualisation of his presidential ambition since he could not achieve it in the APC.

20 new road construction projects across the country will cost an estimated N13.4 billion, the 2018 budget document has shown.

The federal government allocated a total of N555.99bn to the ministry of power, works and housing, the highest in the budget.

Out of that amount, N295bn has been earmarked for key capital projects, to fund road construction, expansion and maintenance across the country.

Of the twenty new roads, N1.4bn was set aside for reconstructing the second phase of Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.
