The Enugu State Government says it has concluded plans to demolish a building erected by an Enugu based non-governmental organization, St. Joseph’s Institute at Independence Layout, Enugu for not possessing the necessary land documents.

The Institute, had built a storey building in  the said land, adjacent to the Enugu State House of Assembly which was duly allocated to the South East zonal office of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA by Enugu state government.

It is becoming obvious that former governor of Abia State Orji Uzor Kalu might have to wait longer before he is re-admitted into the people’s Democratic Party from his home state as the latest effort by the reconciliation committee for the South East to reconcile him with the party met stiff resistance by members.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has boasted that the All Progressives Congress, would show President Goodluck Jonathan, and his Peoples Democratic party government the exit door from Aso Rock come 2015.

He advised the President to start preparing his handover notes as the opposition party was already putting finishing touch to take over the mantle of leadership.

The Imo governor, stated this when he played host to APC  council chairmen from the 36 states, who were in Owerri to join him in celebrating his 52nd birthday.

As the people of Abia South senatorial zone of Abia state continue to make underground politicking to shop for a replacement for Governor Theodore Orji in 2015, they have been told to play purposeful politics and not play to the gallery.

Special Adviser to Gov. Orji on Political Matters, Chief Amah Abraham who stated this in Umuahia, said, since the Peoples’ Democratic Party in the state and the governor announced the zoning of the seat to Abia South, all that the aspirants have been doing is to spend money on perceived stakeholders.

The federal government on Tuesday disclosed that only 3 percent of the 923,768 Sq meters of lands in Nigeria are duly documented, titled, and registered.

Secretary to the government of the SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, made this known in a keynote address he delivered at the South –East Stakeholders’ Workshop on Land Reform held in Enugu.

The Police in Abia state have paraded two nurses working in an hospital being used as baby factory in Aba, Abia state.

The command also paraded four pregnant inmates, one of whom was the mother of a two year old baby, rescued during a raid of the hospital by the security operatives.

If current political moves in Imo State can be solely relied upon, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the state and in deed, in most others states of the South East region may need special intervention to ensure its survival.

Recall that weeks back, the entire Memebers of the House of Representatives from Anambra State voted on the platform fo APGA dumped the party for PDP.

In January, 2013, some corpses were found floating on the Ezu River in Anambra State. Close to two years after, the identity of the bodies has remained a mystery as the cause of their death. The Federal Government, National Assembly, Anambra State government and the Police at one time or the other demonstrated cloudy commitment to unraveling the wonder.

Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra had claimed that nine of the bodies were its members arrested by law enforcement agencies.

Both Primary and Secondary schools in the South East States on Monday resumed for another academic session, amid fear of Ebola disease, and complaint of non provision of sanitary materials by Enugu and Anambra state governments.

HOMELAND NEWS gathered that the schools re-opened in compliance with the federal government’s directive.

However, when our Correspondent visited some schools in Enugu, students were seen cleaning their dusty class rooms under the supervision of their teachers.

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Willie Obiano as the Governor of Anambra state in the November 16, 2013 election.

The Apex Court said the appellants failed to establish the existence of various acts of non compliance they alleged.

Dr. Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Conference and Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party had approached the Court seeking nullification of the election on the grounds that there were substantial non compliance with the constitution and the Electoral Act.
