Dozens of customers of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in Anambra state, besieged the company’s business office in Awka, to protest epileptic power supply and excessive tariff by the outfit.

The protesters under the umbrella "Zik’s Avenue Business Owners Association, Awka" said that their businesses were grounding due to poor power supply.

Vice Chairman of the traders, Ikechukwu Okafor, stated that besides the poor power supply, the company officials issued them with excessive tariffs through estimated bills and fixed charges.

It is now the political trend for state governors to grab the senatorial seat of their zone on ending their tenure as governor. There are very few governors who are not on this track and Martin Elechi of Ebonyi state is not part of this few.
Now, Traditional rulers and Leaders of Thought of Ikwo Noyo clan in Ikwo council area of Ebonyi state, have unanimously endorsed Governor, Martin Elechi for the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat in 2105.

A Sierra Leonean, Koffi Hassan, has been apprehended by the Enugu state command of the Nigeria Immigration Service NIS. He is suspected of specializing in trafficking women from Nigeria to other parts of the world for prostitution,

As part of efforts to ensure that Anambra realises it full potential in food production, the state government, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a consortium comprising foreign and local Investors, for the production of additional 100,000 metric tonnes of rice plant, worth over N20bn.

The State Governor Willie Obiano and the Chairman of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, Nwabunwanne Enweze signed on behalf of the state at the government lodge, Amawbia, While Kenneth Irhogbe and Zhang Dauguang signed on behalf of their respective companies.

Abia state commissioner for Information and Strategy, Eze Chikamnayo has described the former governor, Orji Uzor Kalu as a harbinger of falsehood and lies aiming to mis inform innocent citizens about the present administration in the state under Chief Theodore Orji.

At a press conference jointly held by the commissioner, who was a commissioner for Information in Kalu’s time and two other former aides to ex governor Kalu, Chief Anthony Agbazuere and Chief Don Ubani, the trio noted with disgust how their former boss has allegedly degenerated.

All security outfits and vigilante groups have been banned from bearing fire arms in Imo state. They are also asked to return all the fire arms in their possessions to the police station nearest to them within 2 weeks.

The ban was announced in owerri by the state commissioner of police, Mister Ali Abdulmajid while addressing 82 officers  who had completed a six weeks intensive training in various aspects of policing and crime fighting.

There is apprehension among some stakeholders in the business of governance in Umuahia, the Abia State capital. The anxiety was that anybody that would be elected in 2015 to take over from the incumbent governor of the state, Chief Theodore Orji, should not throw in the towel from where the governor would stop.

The inter-denominational conflicts that marred the eight year reign of former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra state to the extent that Mr. Obi was severally accused of bias against other Christian denominations in favour of the Roman Catholics may be spilling over to the current dispensation under Mr. Willie Obiano.

Son of Abia state governor, Engr. Chinedum Orji has sued The Sun Newspaper for N5bn over a publication in the daily in March 2014, where he was referred to as “a terrorist”.

The suit filed at the Abia state High court holding at Ohafia, is identified as HOH/5/2014, and has Livy Uzoukwu (SAN)  as the lead counsel for the petitioner.
