The Special Anti Robbery Squad operatives of the Benue State Police Command, has recovered a Toyota Hummer Bus with registration number MKD 633 ZN which was reported to have been stolen at gunpoint.

Initial investigation by the police reveals that the driver and some other accomplice staged the robbery in order to sell the vehicle later. 

As at the time the vehicle was found, the colour has already been tampered with.

Academic activities have been stalled at the prestigious University of Ibadan due to a protest by non-Academic staff of the institution.

Staff, students and others who came to the University as at 9am, could not get through the gate.

The Nigeria Prisons Service, NPS, has announced the sacking of 8 junior officers for smuggling marijuana and other prohibited items into the prisons for inmates.
The official spokesman of the NPS Francis Enobore, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja where he said the smuggled items include cell phones and other intoxicating substances.

Payment of higher tariffs in the power sector is inevitable, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said. But he assured the people that the federal government would not increase tariff now.

He said this at the 6th presidential business forum for private stakeholders which held in Abuja on Monday.

Prof. Osinbajo said the government would be meeting with the World Bank on a scheme that would involve “a fair amount of subsidy”.

Mother of the lady who was alleged to have stabbed her husband to death, Maryam Sanda, will be arraigned today by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, over cases of financial misconduct.

Mrs. Maimuna Aliyu will be arraigned in a Jabi High Court.

The ICPC said in a statement that Maimuna, who is a former Executive Director of Aso Savings and Loans Limited, would be arraigned on charges of corruption.

50 banks closed down between 1994 and 2011 because of loans taken by their directors, the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation has said

Director of bank examination department, Adedayo Adeleke, made this known at a workshop for business editors and financial correspondents in Kano.

Mr. Adeleke, who spoke on the topic: ‘Curtailing the Growth of Non-performing Loans in Banks’, said regulators are worried about the increasing rate of non-performing loans in the banking sector.

Monaco has announced the appointment of former Chelsea's technical director, Michael Emenalo, as its new Sporting Director.

The former Super Eagles wing back, resigned from his position at Stamford Bridge three weeks ago.

Monaco’s vice-president, Vadim Vasilye,  praised Emenalo’s track record in the “identification and recruitment” of talent.

“I have been following Michael Emenalo’s work for a long time and I am very happy to have him here after he chose to quit Chelsea,” Vasilyev said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, takes exception to the attempt by the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose to impugn the integrity of its Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, over the management of assets recovered from pension fraud suspects. 

The governor, who addressed the media today in Ado Ekiti, was quoted as saying that respected Lagos lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana “was one of many highly placed Nigerians who allegedly were compensated by the EFCC and Ibrahim Magu with properties retrieved from corrupt government officials.”

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended 14 judges for appointment into the Federal Court of Appeal.  
Sahara Reporters say that not one judge of South-Eastern origin is included. 

The list, which is split into two categories-priority and reserved-shows Justice P. A. Mahmoud, a Benue State indigene, and Nigerian Bar Association AB Mahmoud's wife as the first name in the priority category.  

The second name on the list is Justice F. Ojo, an indigene of Kwara State and wife of Mr. Bayo Ojo, a former NBA President and Attorney-General of the Federation.
