The Police have arrested 3 suspected vote buyers in the ongoing Osun state governorship election.

2 of the suspects,  Muriat Olalekan  61Yrs of No. 11 Oloya Street and 65-year-old Hamzat Muniru of Molari compound were caught in the act and N604,000.00 was recovered from them.

The third suspect, Adeagbo Wasiu, of ward 8 unit 9 Fiwasaye Area Osogbo was arrested, where N116,000 was recovered from him.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has donated relief materials worth several millions of naira to some Internally Displaced Persons over the ravaging floods in Asaba, Delta State.

Dr. Kachikwu also assured the victims that the federal government would intervene in their plight so as to ameliorate the current suffering.

Presenting the donation when he visited one of the IDP camps at the Julius Berger Camp located around Powerline in Asaba, the minister said the FG was saddened by the development.

Miss Imo, Anita Ukah beat 36 other contestants to win the most beautiful girl in Nigeria (MBGN) which was held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Friday September 21. 

The pageant was contested by 37 contestants representing the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Teritory Abuja.

Despite what came out as a poor quality production and mix ups during the sho, the winner emerged. Anita is not new to such contest as she won Miss Igbinedion University, 2014.

The APC Campaign Council for the Osun Governorship election has described the rash of allegations and   accusations emanating from the camp of the PDP ahead of Saturday's polls as a manifestation of the fear of impending defeat.

In a statement in Osogbo on Friday, the Council's Media Committee Chairman, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the PDP and its chorus singers have resorted to such flimsy and unsubstantiated allegations because defeat is now staring the party's candidate in the face.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has withdrawn the operating license of Skye Bank.

CBN Governor, Godwin Emefile who announced the decision on Friday evening in Lagos said depositors funds remain safe.

Polaris Bank has been established to assume ownership of the assets and liabilities of Skye Bank.

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation has injected N786bn in the new bank.

The management of the defunct bank was however retained for its good performance.

The Nigerian Army is continuing its search operation for a missing retired military officer, Maj. General Idris Alkali, who was declared missing on the 3rd of September.

The operation began Thursday in Dura Du, Jos South local government area of Plateau State with combined efforts from troops from the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and the Operation Safe Haven. 

The leader of the search and rescue operation, Brigadier-General Umar Mohammed said the vehicle of the missing Major-General was traced to a pond near the area.

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee has withdrawn the nomination of a lawyer, Ikhide Ehighelua, for the coveted rank of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria and barred him from applying for the rank for the next five years starting from 2019.

The decision taken at the LPPC’s emergency meeting on Thursday came barely four days to his swearing-in along with 30 others already scheduled to take place at the Supreme Court in Abuja on Monday.
