The Bayelsa State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned drivers that the command is equiped with devices that will detect liquor from their breaths, threatening to arrest anyone drunk driving. 

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Bayelsa state FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Ikechukwu Igwe made the threat on Monday.

In his interview, Ikechukwu said, “We have gotten machine that we shall be using to detect drunk drivers in order to safeguard lives and property of road users.

Former  Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme is dead.

In a statement by his family, signed by his brother, the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra State, Igwe Laz Ekwueme stated the time of death as 10:00pm on Sunday.

According to the statement, the former Vice President died in a London Clinic. The statement read in parts;

"Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has promised Lagosians that by 2018, they would be getting 24-hour power supply.

The Governor, who stated that plans were ongoing to ensure constant power supply in Lagos state despite the fact that Transmission is still owned primarily by the Federal Government spoke at an interactive session with members of the business commuity and informal sector.

Reelected governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano, has extended the olive branch to his fellow contestants in Saturday's election.

In an acceptance message made available to newsmen, the governor urged the contestants to join his administration in building the state for the interest of all.

Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the Saturday's governorship election, who is the incumbent, has been reelected as governor of Anambra state for the next 4 years.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the Anambra State governorship election and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu, who announced the results on Sunday, at the collation centre at the INEC headquarters in Awka, the Anambra state capital, said Willie Obiano of APGA won the election.

The Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria says that its members in Lagos State will start wearing uniforms from Jan. 1, 2018 for security and effective service delivery.

The National President of the association, Mr Isreal Adeshola, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Sunday.

Adeshola said the operational uniform would bring sanity to the service in the state and the country as a whole.

The son of a former PDP chairman, Haliru Bello, has died after he was stabbed by his wife, Maryam Sanda, at their Maitama, Abuja residence.
Maryam, said to be the daughter of former Aso Savings boss, Hajia Maimuna Aliyu, stabbed her husband, Bilyamin Bello,  3 times in the back; and severally on his private parts during an altercation over his alleged infidelity.
It was gathered that she saw a love message from another woman on his phone. After stabbing him, she drove him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has shut 13 hotels, restaurants and event centers for failure to pay their taxes due under the Hotel Occupancy and Restaurant Consumption Laws of Lagos State 2009. The Hotels and Restaurants were said to be owing the State a sum of N426,976,528.87

The Federal Government of Nigeria  has hailed the recent global endorsement of its
fight against terrorism, as contained in the 2017 Global Terrorism
Index of the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP).

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Minister of Information
and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, expressed delight at the report,
which shows that the largest decrease in terrorism deaths globally
occurred in Nigeria, where terrorism deaths attributed to Boko Haram
fell by 80% in 2016.
