Following the surprise exit of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar from the All Progressives Congress, Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has described the exit as a good one for the APC

Speaking with State Gouse Correspondents after observing Jumaat with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, El-Rufai stressed that although they already knew Atiku would leave in December, his decision to leave earlier is a welcome development.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has resigned  his membership of the APC. This is the 4th time, the former VP will be leaving his party. The first was leading to the 2007 elections when he joined the Action Congress from the PDP.


Atiku's resignation is hinged on 5 cardinal points


• Arbitrariness and unconstitutionality

• Draconian clampdown on all forms of democracy within the party and in government

• Failure to manage the expectations of the populace and failure to Deliver even mundane matters of Governance

The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, in Port Harcourt, have recovered more corpses and skulls from the den of a former militant leader, General Don Wanni, in Aligwu community, Omoku, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The decomposed bodies and skulls were recovered, in the early hours of Wednesday, after the GOC, Major-General Enobong Udoh, led men of the Division to comb the forest where the notorious kidnap kingpin used as shrine and graveyard.

The Cable reports that Maryam Sanda, the lady accused of killing her husband is the daughter of Maimuna Aliyu, the woman whose nomination into the board of the ICPC.

Aliyu's nomination into the board of ICPC was dropped over an allegation that she abused her office as executive director of Aso Savings and Loans Limited.

She was charged to court on a three-count charge of abuse of office, misappropriation of public funds and criminal breach of trust.

38 points have been identified for the first phase of toll gates of federal highway across the country and the federal government has concluded plans to bring back tolling on highways soon.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola  disclosed this to the Senate Commitee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency on Thursday.

The minister said that tolling will take effect after the roads have been made motorable.  He added that the gates will be located at the spot of the old ones

The National Economic Council has been informed of the list of 500 tax dodgers made up of some prominent citizens with investments abroad.

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, explained that such Nigerians can take advantage of the Voluntary Assets & Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) to settle past taxation defaults.

“Letters would soon be going out to these Nigerians, including a number of prominent ones, asking them to take advantage of the tax amnesty in order to avoid prosecution and fines by simply paying up their tax defaults,” she said.

Another top member of the PDP has left the party for the APC. This time, it is wife of a former National Chairman of the party, Dr. Maryam Ali.

Mrs. Ali renounced her membership of the PDP to declare for the APC at an event held at the APC national secretariat, in Abuja on Thursday.

Wife of Ahmadu Ali who chaired the PDP, as the largest party in the country, is for the purpose of continued service to her people.

Chairman of the senate ad hoc committee investigating the reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, has taken off the lid on a fresh allegation surrounding activities of the pension reform task force led by Maina.

Senator Emmanuel Paulker said that  222 houses recovered from a pension probe has been shared.

That was part of what he told the senate on Thursday as one of the reasons why there is need to investigate the “mystery” surrounding the recovered property which the Presidential Task Force on Pension reform formerly headed by Maina.

The latest Bar Final Examination has shown that the University of Lagos, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Obafemi Awolowo University are the best in producing law graduates. 

The Bar Final Examination is the last test conducted for students of the Nigerian Law School before they enrolled as qualified lawyers.

This position was contained in the analysis of performance by universities in the August 2017 Bar final examination results of the Nigerian Law School.

While six students at the UNILAG emerged with First Class honours, four emerged from UNN and three from OAU.
