Vanguard newspaper, SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH carried the interview of the one his supporters like to call “Senator Victor Umeh.” The article was brought to my notice A FEW HOURS AGO.

When I read it, I was mad with Chief Victor Umeh, not because of what he said about our common mentor, Mr. Peter Obi, but what he said about our common father, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. Lying that Ojukwu threatened to slap anybody, not to talk a Governor at that time was the height of insult. Was he trying to portray Ojukwu as a thug, a brute, a rascal, an outlaw or what? Ojukwu we knew was a fine gentleman, who went to war because the situation at that time made war inevitable, which will be the case with anybody that loves his people, but portraying him as a street fighter demands the taming of barbaric tendencies.

We loved Ojukwu and our values were driven from his own that people like me feel injured when anybody throws a dart at his character as Chief Victor Umeh did in that interview. He has wounded the Igbo spirit. Consider his statement again: “I didn’t get near him until Ojukwu invited us on 30th of May to his home- myself, Peter Obi and a few people and he told him that he would slap him if he did not fix a date for local government elections immediately” One day, this Victor Umeh will even tell us that Ojukwu threatened to shoot or even eat people.
I will present the rest of his childish lies and tantrums and use Capital Letters to react to them one after another.

Victor Umeh:

“Well, APGA was registered for all Nigerians and the registration was initiated from the South East but other Nigerians were involved along the Line. So, the party was registered as a national party and at take- off, Imo State had an advantage over the others.”

Valentine:

ONE DAY THIS MAN WILL CLAIM THAT HE WAS THE ONE THAT REGISTERED APGA. THE WAY HE IS GOING, JUST WATCH OUT. WHY CAN’T VICTOR UMEH FOR ONCE GIVE CREDIT TO CHEKWAS OKORIE?

Victor Umeh:

I was the Prosecution Witness 1, PW1, in the election petitions tribunal. I was the first witness in the tribunal.

Valentine:

FOR EVERETHING CHIEF VICTOR UMEH DID, INCLUDING BEARING WITNESS IN COURT, HE INSISTED ON BEING PAID AND HE WAS PAID HANDSOMELY.

Victor Umeh:

I was able to prepare the party for the judicial challenge in the governorship election. So, we had collated all the polling booth results.

Valentine:

HOW DID HE DO IT? HE WAS ONLY USED AS A WITNESS AND WAS PAID HANDSOMELY. AS FOR COLLATION OF RESULTS, THAT WAS DONE WHOLLY AND ENTIRELY BY CHIEF NWOBU ALOR.

Victor Umeh:

So, at the NWC, I told our colleagues that the party had no problem other than that the Chekwas was interfering in a negative manner in the affairs of the party

Valentine:

ALL FORMER APGA MEMBERS ARE STILL MORNING HOW CHIEF UMEH SCHEMED WITH LIES AND BLACKMAIL TO PUSH CHIEF CHEKWAS OKORIE OUT OF APGA. IF CHEKWAS PILOTED THE AFFAIRS OF THAT PARTY FOR TWO MORE YEARS, APAGA WOULD HAVE BEEN A NATIONAL PARTY BY NOW.
THE SAME BLACKMAIL HE USED ON CHEKWAS IS WHAT HE USES ON EVERYBODY. NWOKE M, IS IT NOT TIME TO REPENT?

VICTOR UMEH:

I asked him to conduct the local government election in Anambra State so that our party members can have the grass root grip in the state. He didn’t want to conduct that election so we disagreed and he started wanting to push me out as the national chairman because he wasn’t going for a third term. That was his final term so it was convenient for him to do away with me. He had advisers who told him to clip my wings because I was the only one that could insist that he should do what he wouldn’t want to do, conduct local government election…

VALENTINE:

JUST AS HE HAS BEEN TELLING EVERYBODY THAT HAS NOT CONDUCTED ONE IN NIGERIA TO DO SO. THAT STORY IS NO MORE PLAUSIBLE.

Victor Umeh:

Peter is my brother and he came to me in Enugu to tell me he wanted to become Governor of Anambra State and that Prof ABC Nwosu had asked him to come and see me in Enugu to see if I would agree to work with him and that if I agreed to work with him, that he would go far in his bid. ABC had to do that because I was one of his strong people when he ran for governor in Anambra state through the PDP.

VALENTINE:

AS AT THE TIME CHIEF UMEH MEANT, HE WAS STILL SERVING CHIEF OFIA DULU AS PA. HOW WAS IT POSSIBLE?

VICTOR UMEH:

I asked him how much money he had to put in the election he said he could put in about N200 million and I told him that it was huge money then but not enough because I knew the way PDP operated in Anambra.

VALENTINE:

YET HE WAS THE PERSON TO BUY YOU THE FIRST PERSONAL CAR YOU OWNED, PAID FOR YOUR RENT, PROCURED YOUR FIRST INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT AND SENT YOU OVERSEAS FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Victor Umeh:

So, to answer your question Obi was not fair to APGA and to some of us particularly myself because I took on him from zero to promote his governorship bid.

Valentine:

SWEAR THAT IT WAS NOT WHEN YOU KNEW OBI THAT YOUR FORTUNES CHANGED.

VICTOR UMEH:

I took him to virtually everybody that he came to know on this journey and because of that covenant we had that we would stay on till the end, I was the bulwark of his trouble to become governor both from the party and during the election and post election efforts that made me to defy all efforts to get me compromised.

Valentine:

JUST NAME ONE PERSON YOU INTRODUCED HIM TO. PA TO OFIADULU INTRODUCING OBI, ALREADY CHAIRMAN OF MANY QUOTED COMPANIES TO PEOPLE. WONDERS SHALL NEVER END

VICTOR UMEH:

Nine days after his inauguration, he sent his secretary to government and his commissioner for works to me here in Enugu. They told me that Peter told them to come and convince me that he wanted to put caretaker people in the local government so I told them I didn’t agree.

VALENTINE:

AFTER READING THIS I CALLED ARC CALLISTUS ILOZUMBA, THE THEN COMMISSIONER FOR WORKS WHO SIMPLY SAID: “WHEN WILL THIS MAN STOP ALL THESE CHILDISH LIES AND BLACKMAIL? PLEASE HE SHOULD LEAVE ME OUT OF IT”
THE ONLY ENCOUNTER VICTOR UMEH HAD WITH ILOZUMBA WHICH I RECALL WAS WHEN ILOZUMBA ADVICED HIM TO TAKE PICK-UP FULL OF DRINKS AND 5 MILLION NAIRA OBI SUPPORTTED HIM WITH FOR THE BURIAL OF HIS MOTHER WHICH HE HAD EARLIER REJECTED AS TOO SMALL FOR HIS STATUS.

VICTOR UMEH:

I didn’t get near him until Ojukwu invited us on 30th of May to his home- myself, Peter Obi and a few people and he told him that he would slap him if he did not fix a date for local government elections immediately

VALENTINE:

PRESENTING OJUKWU AS A MAN GOVERNED BY INSTINCT AND NOT BY REASON. TOO BAD!

VICTOR UMEH:

I continued to hold forth because by that 2011, I went over to Imo state to work hard to get Rochas Okorocha elected as APGA governor of Imo State, so we now had two governors but Obi went into alliance with Okorocha to start fighting me because of this local government thing.

VALENTINE:

ALWAYS GOVERNED BY MONEY, AS SOON AS ROCHAS BECAME GOVERNOR, VICTOR UMEH WENT TO HIM AND NARRATED HOW OBI WAS NOT FUNDING APGA, WHEN HE WAS ACTUALLY BEING GIVEN 20 MILLION NAIRA (AS ALREADY REPORTED IN MANY NEWSPAERS) EVERY MONTH TO RUN THE PARTY BY OBI, WHICH NOBODY CAN POINT OUT ONE SINGLE THING HE DID WITH THE MONEY. HE WOULD ALWAYS TELL MR. PETER OBI NOT TO DISCLOSE TO GOV. ROCHAS OKOROCHA WHAT HE WAS GIVEN HIM. DURING THE MEETING OF THE TWO GOVERNORS, OKOROCHA RAISED THE ISSUE OF FUNDING AND WAS SHOCKED WHEN OBI TOLD HIM WHAT HE WAS PAYING TO UMEH EVERY MONTH. ROCHAS SAID IF AFTER BEING GIVEN SUCH AN AMOUNT EVERY MONTH AND THE MAN SHOP CLEAN MOUTH, THAT HE WAS NOT WORTHY BEING ASSOCIATED WITH. THIS WAS ONE OF THE REASONS ROCHAS LEFT APGA.

VICTOR UMEH:

Even though I won, I had to make some sacrifices for unity to prevail for us to go to that election.

VALENTINE:

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR VICTORY.

VOCTOR UMEH:

Unfortunately for me, December 1, Ojukwu had stroke and by 23rd of December 2010, he was taken to England where he stayed till he died on 26th November 2011.

VALENTINE:

ONCE IT COMES TO OBI, HE WILL START USING INPERSONAL PRONOUNS. LOOK AT WHAT HE WROTE ABOUT OJUKWU “he was taken to England where he stayed till he died”
WHO TOOK HIM TO ENGLAND? WHO BURIED HIM? VERY SOON, HE WILL START NARRATING TO US HOW IT WAS HIM THAT ARRANGED THE TRIP AND RELATED ISSUES.
