Orochiri Community in Rivers state has sent a letter to a company in its domain demanding what the call 'End of year homage'.

Over the years, efforts to find a solution to the restiveness in the Niger Delta seem to have yielded little or no results.

While some blame government for neglecting the region others say leaders of the people in the affected area are greedy and have constantly shortchanged the people.

A recent revelation of how a community make demands from companies operating in the locality may be a pointer.

"10 bags of rice, 1 cow, five goats, 100 tubers of yam, Brandy, Wine, Executive Hamper and over 600,000 cash for Chiefs, Elders and the Community Council."

No wonder why most of the companies do not care about schools, roads and other amenities that will better the lives of the ordinay people.

Shame.
