Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the Federal Capital High Court, has sentenced former governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, to 14 years in prison for criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of funds.

Dariye was charged for allegedly diverting N1.1bn while in office between 1999 and 2007.

 Justice Banjoko, in  a six-and-a-half-hour judgment convicted the ex-governor  on 15 out the 23 count charge of criminal breach of trust against punishable under  the Penal Code 

Eight of the twenty three charges were thrown out for lack of sufficient evidence.

The former governor was found guilty of diverting eighty million naira belonging to the state  to the Peoples Democratic Party,  and another N100m to a private company.

Today's sentence is coming few weeks after  former governor of Taraba state,  Jolly Nyame, was jailed 14 years for fraud by the same Judge.
