Sahara Reporters say President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, is being suspected of inserting "coordinator" of government activities as the duty of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo while the President in receiving treatment in the United Kingdom.

The letter transmitted to the Senate has been a subject of controversy where many suggest it was crafted to undermine the office of the Vice President who should assume the office of the Acting President in the event that the President becomes indisposed.

Sources at the Presidency told Sahara Reporters that President Buhari was more livid with anger than just being embarrassed by the heat his letter has generated back home.

Report says the Chief of Staff took the decision of the phrase by himself without consulting anyone.

President Buhari is said to have merely glanced through the letter before signing as he never thought that the letter could be a departure from the previous one he wrote to the Senate.

“Abba Kyari has some explanation to make to the President who was completely taken by surprise.

“I can assure you that he never knew of the ridiculous insertion of the word ‘coordinating’ in his letter,” said the source.

The reason why Mr. Kyari chose the word 'coordinator' may not be clear at the moment but the report tells of other acts of desperation by the Chief of Staff.

“Mr. President has often sharply rebuked [Mr. Kyari], insisting that things must be done properly and constitutionally.

"One occasion when Mr. Buhari confronted his Chief of Staff was when Mr. Kyari inserted himself as a board member of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, according to the report, has been a victim of Mr. Kyari's lust for power and dominance.

He was said to have replaced the list of heads of agencies under the Ministry of Information submitted by the Minister with his own men.

“Since then, Abba Kyari blocked every attempt by the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, to see Mr. President until the release of the Chibok girls last weekend.

“Besides VP Osinbajo, Abba Kyari considers ministers such as Lai Mohammed, Babatunde Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi, Audu Ogbeh, Hadi Sirika, Malami, and Jumai Alhassan as those he should cut off from the President,” the source said.

HOMELAND NEWS recalls that wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, had in a highly controversial interview with the BBC Hausa service claimed that the President is being held hostage by some men around him in government. She claimed that most of those women were never known to her until her husband became President and made his early appointments.

What is left to be seen is how President Buhari will handle the obvious alleged excesses of his Chief of Staff when he fully regains his health.

While there is a view that the President will be coming so hard on Mr. Kyari for all the setbacks he is alleged to have created, the possibility that President Buhari may never be of that fitness and sound mind to fire anyone bothers some observers.
