Although the Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force (IGP), Ibrahim Idris made good on his promise to appear before the Senate Committee constituted to investigate the allegations levelled against him by embattled Senator Isa Misau, he refused to speak with the committee.

It was learnt that the IG who hadpreviously refused to appear before the committee refrained from addressing the committee directly, only speaking through his lawyer, Alex Iziyon throughout the session.

The IGP was invited by the Senate after Senator Isa Misau leveled a series of corruption allegations against Mr. Idris. Senator Misau had alleged that the IGP steals about N10 billion monthly asinternally generated revenue.

Mr. Alex Iziyon who addressed the senate committee on behalf of the IGP said  “'We have a very high respect for this committee; we do not have anything to hide, we have the papers filed by the petitioners and we have responded paragraph by paragraph. I have submitted 15 copies containing the response to the allegations to the Senate ad-hoc committee.”

The meeting was however adjourned to allow the senators study the documents submitted by the Counsel
