Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has been chosen by consensus as the chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum with Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state as the vice chairman at a meeting held on Wednesday in Abuja.

He took over from the Zamfara state governor, Abdulazeez Yari.

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state, in a statement before the election called on the governors to adopt the principle of rotation of power between the North and the South in the selection of a new chairman.

Considering the fact that the NGF chairman should be a governor from the ruling political party, Dickson stated that governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party platform would not contest the position.
