Acting President Yemi Osinbajo is currently in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State hours after Boko Haram insurgents attacked the area.
Prof. Osinbajo is in Maiduguri to launch the government’ s Special Intervention Relief plan for displaced persons in the northeast.

The plans seeks the ensure the distribution of 30,000 metric tonnes, over 1,032 trucks of cereal to those affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast region.

The Boko Haram insurgency has left more than two million displaced.

States to benefit from the exercise are Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi and Gombe.

According to his spokesman, the Acting president will also visit the Shehu of Borno.

His visit comes a day after the Army successfully repelled an attack by Boko Haram insurgents in Maduguri.

The insurgents were attempting to capture Jiddari Polo community in Maiduguri but were repelled by the Army.

The police say they recovered 14 bodies while 24 others were injured in the attacks.
