The Nigerian army has confirmed interception of Boko Haram operations at different locations leading to the neutralisation of of of five planned operations in Borna state.

The troops according to Army Spokesperson, Sani Usman, in a statement neuralised five terrorists at different locations leading to the recovery of different weapons including a huge IED.

Sani stated that the operation of the Anti-Bomb squad led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle magazine, a motorcycle and some spare parts. He said the troops intercepted Boko Haram terrorists who were escaping through the Borno-Monguno highway at Torowa village. According to him, one of the terrorists was shot dead while others fled into a nearby bush.

"During the operations, the troops neutralized three Boko Haram terrorists and captured one other terrorist alive.

"The troops also recovered one Fabrique Nationals rifle, one G3 rifle, charged magazines and a pair of military camouflage uniform suspected to be used by the terrorists to disguise as military personnel.

"Unfortunately, one soldier sustained injury during the operation. He has since been evacuated to the unit's Regimental Aid Post, for more medical attention.

"The captured terrorist has been taken into custody for further interrogation and onward passage to relevant agencies"
