The Nigerian Army is continuing its search operation for a missing retired military officer, Maj. General Idris Alkali, who was declared missing on the 3rd of September.

The operation began Thursday in Dura Du, Jos South local government area of Plateau State with combined efforts from troops from the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and the Operation Safe Haven. 

The leader of the search and rescue operation, Brigadier-General Umar Mohammed said the vehicle of the missing Major-General was traced to a pond near the area.

Officers and Soldiers are making frantic efforts to drain the water from the pond using three different pumping machines. 

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai reportedly gave the order for a thorough search to unravel the mystery of the disappearance of the senior military officer.
