Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, his wife and son have reportedly escaped assassination attempt on Tuesday morning, November 5, at their Abuja residence.

According to a statement by the media Aide, Uche Anichukwu, the armed men who gained entry into the residence at 4am by discreetly evading the security at the Apo Quarters residence did not shoot immediately so as not to attract the attention of the Security personnel on duty but took hold of the son and commanded him to take them to the Senator’s bedroom.

It was at the bedroom that a struggle ensued which led to the arrest of one of the armed men while the others managed to escape.
The arrested member of the gang who was arrested with dangerous weapons and housebreaking devices refused to give any information on the operation and has been handed over to the Police.

As at the time of the attack, Ekweremadu, his wife and one of his sons were in the house.
