Politicians in Anambra State have been given 17 days ultimatum by the Anambra Police Command to stop using branded vehicles or face prosecution.

According the Punch, the orders were given by the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mustapha Dandaura, in a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed.

He said, “Information at the disposal of the Anambra State Police Command revealed that hoodlums in the state are using branded and/or unmarked/tinted vehicles with covered number plates to perpetrate crimes in the state in order to avoid being detected by the law enforcement agencies.

“Such acts are not only unlawful, but also constitute serious security threats to the public, which if left unchecked, could worsen the security situation in the state.”
