A Nigerian army staff sergeant, Silas Ninyo (93NA/36/2608) has shot dead his superior, Captain T. Mani today, Sunday, November 12. 

According to the report by Sahara Reporters, Captain Mani stopped Sergeant Ninyo from beating innocent civilians in Chibok, Borno state after responding to distress calls from locals. 

On getting to the scene, Mani reportedly attempted to disarm the sergeant, but was killed in the process, while the soldier killed himself and injured four others around.

The Social media has gone haywire over a leaked letter believed to have been written by a soldier attached to the Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-East.

According to the soldier who claimed to be writing from Damaturu, Yobe state, soldiers in the frontline were being poorly treated as a result of massive corruption in the army.

“Your Excellency, corruption in the army is real and it is killing us. While we expect to die in the hands of the enemy, we don’t expect to die in the hands of the army, due to corruption and criminal negligence.

The Nigerian army has confirmed interception of Boko Haram operations at different locations leading to the neutralisation of of of five planned operations in Borna state.

The troops according to Army Spokesperson, Sani Usman, in a statement neuralised five terrorists at different locations leading to the recovery of different weapons including a huge IED.
