The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has dragged the President, Muhammadu Buhari , to a Federal High Court in Abuja over the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.

In a statement issued on Sunday, SERAP said it asked the court to stop Buhari from using draconian provisions of CAMA 2020 to target activists; arbitrarily merge private associations, religious associations, charities, NGOs/ professional bodies under Part F and remove their trustees.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked the National Assembly to stop President Muhammadu Buhari from selling government properties to fund the 2021 budget.

SERAP in a statement issued on Sunday by its deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare, appealed to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and the Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila to bar the President from carrying out such moves via a letter addressed on January 16.

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sent an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari urging him to use his leadership position “to promptly drop the plan by the Federal Government to borrow about N895bn of unclaimed dividends and funds in dormant accounts using the patently unconstitutional and illegal Finance Act, 2020, and to ensure full respect for Nigerians’ right to property.”
