President Muhammadu Buhari will return to London after attending the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly which opens on Tuesday September 19, the presidency has disclosed

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina in statement did not disclose the purpose of Buhari’s visit to London nor when he will return.

The statement simply indicated that “President Buhari will transit through London on his way back to the country.”

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday met behind closed doors with the leaderships of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting, which started around 11.10a.m., was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.

It is being attended by the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, chairman of the APC, Mr John Odigie-Oyegun and the caretaker chairman of the PDP, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi.

The Federal Executive Council has been put off for today, Wednesday, August 23. 

A statement signed by the Special Advicer to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said that President Buhari will instead be "receiving the report of the investigation committee into the allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke, headed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, at 12 noon, in his office."
