A 65-year-old businessman, Adamu Nahum, was on Wednesday in Lagos brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of two children aged four and seven years.

Nahum, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, child trafficking and stealing.

According to the Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, the defendant and others still at large, committed the offences in October at Ojo, Lagos.

He said that the defendant trafficked and enslaved the two minors.

A 34-year-old woman, Chineye, on Monday, appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly selling her one-day-old female baby for N300, 000.

The alleged buyer, Happiness, 49, who was arraigned alongside the defendant, was charged with unlawful adoption of baby.

The duo, whose residential addresses were not given, is facing a three-count of conspiracy, child trafficking and unlawful adoption.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps  Command in Anambra State has arrested a 34- year old woman, Mrs Nkeoma, for alleged human trafficking.

Mr David Bille, the state NSCDC Commandant, disclosed this during a media briefing on Saturday in Awka.

Mr Billie said, Nkeoma, a restaurant owner at Agulu Ezechukwu Community in Aguata Local Government Area of the state was arrested on November 5, at Agulu Ezechukwu, while perfecting plans to move her victims outside Nigeria.
