 President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday presided over the meeting of the Federal Council (FEC) with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and cabinet ministers in attendance.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that others attending the meeting included the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita as well as some presidential aides.

NAN observed that before the arrival of President Buhari at the Council Chamber, Kyari and Oyo-Ita hugged themselves while greeting.

The Federal Executive Council has approved the 2018 Appropriation Bill, paving the way for President Muhammadu Buhari to present the document to the National Assembly.

The approval was given at a meeting of the council presided over by the President. 

Minister of Budget and National Planning,  Udoma Udoma, confirmed the approval to State House correspondents at the end of the meeting.

Mr. Udoma said the Executive would liaise with the National Assembly to agree on a date the President will present the document to the federal lawmakers.

A special session of the Federal Executive Council held today, Thursday after the meeting failed to hold on Wednesday as usual.

The meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari was to consider the twenty eighteen budget proposal.

But significantly, minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, who had been in the eye of the storm over the sudden reinstatement of wanted Abdulrasheed Maina, was absent.
