Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and the Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, have visited flood victims in Umeze-Anam West Local Government Area of the State.

The Vice President told the flood victims that the Federal Government will support them by providing more relief materials to reduce their sufferings.

He directed the immediate supply of foodstuff and financial intervention to the victims, to cushion the effect of the flood situation

The National emergency management agency, NEMA, has declared National Disaster in Kogi, Delta, Niger and Anambra states

Director General of the agency Mustapha Maihaja who made the declaration in Lokoja on Monday said other states will be under watch. 

He said the volume of water in Lokoja is eleven point zero five meters, a little above the level experienced the same period in twenty twelve.

At least one person has died from the flooding in the State.

About 200 households have been displaced by flood in Rikkos community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau, following heavy downpour on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Al’Amin Yakubu, Head, Emergency Response Team of the community disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Jos.

Yakubu said though no life was lost, the flood had destroyed properties and washed away valuables.

“The flood didn’t claim lives, but because it was huge, it displaced over 200 households.
