Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, his wife and son have reportedly escaped assassination attempt on Tuesday morning, November 5, at their Abuja residence.

According to a statement by the media Aide, Uche Anichukwu, the armed men who gained entry into the residence at 4am by discreetly evading the security at the Apo Quarters residence did not shoot immediately so as not to attract the attention of the Security personnel on duty but took hold of the son and commanded him to take them to the Senator’s bedroom.

The raid of a residence belonging to the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, by the police has been confirmed from multiple sources.

An aide to the Senator, Uche Anichukwu, in a press statement narrates how the raid was carried out on Friday morning.

Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu has advocated decentralised policing in the country to check crimes and corruption.

To achieve this, Nigeria must move policing to the concurrent legislative list‎.

According to him, decentralised policing will make the task of preventing, detecting, investigating and prosecuting certain offences and small- corruption easier.
