A pastor, Oluwafemi Komolafe, and a yet-to-be-identified policeman attached to the Ondo State Police Command have been killed by some gunmen at Ore, Benin-Ijebu Ode Expressway, in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

According to The Punch, Oluwafemi was a pastor in one of the popular churches in Akure, the state capital.

The pastor was said to be travelling with his son, Timilehin, an undergraduate at a private university, when the gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, stopped them on the road on Friday.

The Special Anti -Robbery Squad of the Cross River State Police Command has rescued a woman and killed six suspected kidnappers in Ikom Local Government Area.

Spokesperson of the command , ASP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the development on Wednesday,  said the suspected kidnappers had been under the trail of the police since they abducted the woman four days ago.

She said that men of the SARS unit on gathering intelligence information traced the kidnappers to their hideout in the bush where the shooting occurred.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, says there are up to 3,000 suspected kidnappers in various police cells across the country.

The Inspector General stated this today while speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said the suspects were being taken to the courts on a daily basis.

“Presently, we have almost over 3000 suspects in the various police stations all over the country and we are taking them to court,” he said.
