Kwara Government says 37 more people have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total of confirmed cases in the state to 1,496.

Mr Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to Kwara Governor and Spokesman for the Technical Committee on COVID-19, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.

According him, this brings the total of confirmed cases to 1,496 with 1, 281 patients discharged and 32 death recorded in the state.

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has dissolved his cabinet with effect from December 31, 2020.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, announced this in a statement on Sunday in Ilorin, the state capital.

“His Excellency especially commends the honourable cabinet members for their contributions to the development of the state while also wishing them the best in their future endeavours,” Ajakaye said in the statement.

The Deputy Governor of Kwara State and Chairman COVID-19 Technical Committee in the state Mr Kayode Alabi and his wife, Mrs Abieyuwa Alabi, on Monday, tested positive to COVID-19 virus.

The deputy governor and his wife had submitted themselves for the test after they showed slight symptoms of the virus.

Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and spokesman for the technical committee, disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement in Ilorin.
