Lagos State,  Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured workers in the state that his Govt. is  ready to pay more than the N30,000 benchmark for the new National Minimum Wage.

Sanwo-Olu, who said this during a meeting in Ikeja with the organized labour in the state, said the payment would start after the conclusion of the Federal Government and labour leaders’ negotiation.

Lagos state government has declared a state of emergency on various dilapidated highways and carriages within the State.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday at the Lagos House Marina, ordered massive construction work on critical roads and highways across the State, beginning from Monday (tomorrow).

Floods swept an 11-year-old boy and his rescuer, simply identified as Wasiu away at Aboru and Iyana-Ipaja in Alimosho area of Lagos on Saturday.

The duo was swept away at a canal linking Aburo and Iyana-Ipaja on Ige Road.

The News Agency of Nigeria correspondent, who visited the scene of the accident observed a huge crowd wearing sad faces due to the incident that occurred following the overflow of water from the canal.
