Former governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has officially resigned his membership of the people's democratic party, PDP.

All may not be well within the fold of the PDP governors’ forum, as some governors are protesting the emergence of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko as its chairman.

The Ondo State governor succeeded Godswill Akpabio last week in a meeting where seven governors and two deputies were present.

Leading the protest is the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose on the grounds that Dr. Mimiko just returned to the PDP last year.

National Working Committee of the PDP is expected to meet on Monday with all the governors to find a remedy to the dispute.

Governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have criticised the relocation of the governorship Election Tribunals in Rivers and Taraba states to Abuja.
The governors’ position was announced in Abuja this morning after a four hour meeting by the forum.
The relocation of the tribunal from Rivers to Abuja was linked to high level insecurity that characterized the election period in the state. It was believed that witnesses may not be free to appear if sittings of the tribunal are held in Port Harcourt or anywhere within the state.
