President Muhammadu Buhari has saluted the sacrifices of 20 doctors reportedly killed by COVID-19 in the country, saying the welfare of frontline medical workers is a priority of his government.

The president had sent his condolences to the Nigerian Medical Association over the death of the doctors due to the pandemic.

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of Prof. Habu Galadima, the Director General, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

In a condolence message by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Sunday,  the president described Galadima as ”an intellectual colossus who stood tall in the field of scholarship and knowledge”.

He added that Galadima was an eloquent and remarkable intellectual whose contributions to scholarship were vast and remarkable.

Brazilian football great, Pele mourned his fellow legend, Diego Maradona after the Argentine died Wednesday aged 60, saying he hoped they would “play together in the sky” one day.

“Sad news today. I have lost a dear friend, and the world has lost a legend,” Pele, 80, wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of Maradona hoisting the World Cup trophy in 1986.

“There is much more to say, but for now may God give his family strength. One day, I hope, we will play soccer together in the sky.”
