The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has called for continued adherence to the public health and social measures as the country marks one year of first case of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The NCDC Director-General, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja.

Ihekweazu said that with over 150,000 cases reported since then, the country’s response had been led by science.

Nigeria gas recorded 571 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country 153,187.

Announcing the cases in a late night tweet on Tuesday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed that the country also recorded 12 new COVID-19Nrelated deaths in the last 24 hours under review.

The Health Agency said the cases were reported from 21 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT.

According to the NCDC, of the new cases, q70 were recorded in Lagos, 65 in Ogun, 45 in FCT, 34 in Abia and 32 in Enugu State.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says 75 healthcare workers tested positive for COVID-19 in the last week across the country.

NCDC Director-General, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, disclosed this at the national briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Monday in Abuja.

Dr. Ihekweazu said that the number of healthcare workers getting infected was becoming worrisome.

He said efforts were ongoing to ensure that health workers were actively protected against the virus.
