As part of its continuing support of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the United States government on Wednesday donated seven vehicles and a variety of technical equipment to the Nigerian counter-narcotics agency.

Operatives of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency,  have arrested three suspects in Lagos and Abuja for alleged attempt to smuggle drugs in and out of the country.

In a statement, Jonah Achemah, spokesperson for the NDLEA, said two of the suspects, John Ifechukwu and Victor Anadu were intercepted at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have foiled attempts by two grandmothers to unlawfully export narcotic drugs to New York, United States and Medina, Saudi Arabia.

The suspects allegedly ingested 108 wraps of substances that tested positive for heroin and cocaine during outward screening of passengers at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos.

The grandmothers blamed their involvement in drug trafficking on financial hardship.
