The Defence Headquarters says there is no truth in the report that female cadets are no longer being admitted into the military academy.

A statement by the DHQ affirmed that in line with the relevant statute, the role of women in the military is still intact.

The report which came out on Monday, claimed that during a meeting  last week with Pres. Buahri, service chiefs recommended that female cadets should no longer be admitted into the defence academy.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has said funds have been released from the Ministry of Defence to pay the outstanding operational allowances of troops fighting Boko Haram for the third quarter of 2017.

Gen. Buratai, in a release signed by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, said the army would this week begin the payment of “allowances owed the troops for the last two months accordingly.”

Nigeria's Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Oduwole has urged all Nigerians to disregard the ongoing rumours about the military administering vaccinations on school children.

The Minister in a statement signed by the Director Media and Public Relations, Mrs. Boade Akinola on Wednesday bin Abuja asked Nigerians to remain calm as government is committed to the wellbeing of Nigerians wherever they live.
