The federal government of Nigeria on Sunday raised alarm over what it called 'Misleading Campaign', spearheaded by the so-called Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), using false allegations of persecution of Christians against the Nigerian State.

The President Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu,  who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, revealed that the Federal Government had since uncovered two interconnected campaigns being run concurrently by the IPOB in that regard.

Mr Ene Okon, Abia State Commissioner of Police has warned that he will not allow any member of Indigenous  People of Biafra, IPOB, to participate in the burial of of Eze Israel Kanu and his wife, Sally, both parents of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu because the group is proscribed.

Okon, however, told journalists in Umuahia, the State capital that members of the group are free to attend the burial as individual.

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra are raging on social media after Facebook shut down the page of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in a statement, said  the action was taken by Facebook Nigeria to diminish the growing popularity of Kanu in his cause.

According Emma Powerful,  the page had endeared Kanu to most people as it was used to expose the atrocities of government.
