South Africa has secured 20 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine, the health minister told a Sunday newspaper.

Africa’s worst virus-hit country has yet to begin vaccinating its population against Covid-19, stirring criticism over slow procurement and lack of strategy.

A first shipment of AstraZeneca/Oxford jabs produced in India is due to arrive on Monday, with injections expected to start two weeks later.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize told The Sunday Times that 20 million additional vaccines had been ordered from US drugmaker Pfizer.

President Muhammadu Buhari  has ordered the immediate reopening of Nigeria's four land borders.

The presidency disclosed this in a tweet via its official tweeter handle on Wednesday.

The tweet reads, “President Buhari has directed the immediate opening of four land borders: Seme, Illela, Maigatari, and Mfun,” @NGRPresident tweeted.

The President also directed that other land borders to be opened by December 31, 2020.

Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Wednesday, revoked the bail he granted to Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman, Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) and issued at warrant for his arrest; stating additionally that he would continue his trial in absentia.
