The Inspector General of Police, M.A Adamu, has directed Policemen to henceforth protect themselves if attacked.

This is coming against the backdrop of attacks on personnel of the Nigerian Police Force and burning of several Police Stations after hoodlums highjacked  the #EndSARS protests.

“If anyone assaults you, you can protect yourselves. When we talk of human rights, the police are human and we have human rights too.

"Their lives should also be protected. We are sending the message that legally, we have the right to protect ourselves”.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday directed the Lagos State Scholarship Board to award scholarships up to the university level to the children of policemen lynched during the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protest.

The governor also made the offer to take the bill of replacing the logistics lost by the police when he visited the Command Headquarters in Ikeja to boost the morale of officers, following the demoralising events of the past week in which police officers and their stations were targeted by hoodlums.
