President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday addressed leaders of the South East zone and citizens who gathered at the Abakaliki Township Stadium to welcome him to the state. 

The President assured the zone that government is addressing the various issues raised by agitators but urged the people to reject any 'senseless propaganda of secession.'

 “My presence here today is a demonstration of our strong belief in the unity of Nigeria. As the most populous country in Africa, with over 300 ethnic groups, our diversity is almost unique among nations.

The Ebonyi State Police Command has warned groups planning to disrupt the visit of President Muhammadu Buharivisit to the state, to be prepared for the consequence of any act that will threaten the peace.

Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra  had  on Monday asked President Buhari not to come to the South-East, which it referred to as ‘Biafraland,’ or else he would not leave the geopolitical zone alive.

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari will pay a two-day visit to Anambra and Ebonyi States this week.
The official Twitter handle of the Presidency confirmed the development on the micro-blogging site on Sunday evening, November 12.

The reason for the President’s visit to the two South East states is yet to be ascertained but it’s coming at the time Anambra state will be conducting its governorship election.
