On the 9th of July, 2013, Rivers people and indeed Nigerians woke to the news of the terrible mayhem on the floor of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
 
Five lawmakers led by Hon. Evans Bipi were attempting the absurd and abominable; the renegade group had launched an attack on the country's infantile democracy, shockingly with the full backing of the police command and the powers that be. The aim being to impeach the former Gov.of Rivers State who was then considered an 'enfant terrible' by Abuja.

Minister of Transport, Chibuike Amaechi has turned down the Grand Service Star of Rivers State award to be offered by his successor as governor of the state, Nyesom Wike.

On Wednesday, HOMELAND NEWS reported that the current administration in Rivers state will honour Mr, Amaechi and some other prominent citizens as part of the celebration marking the 50 years of the state's creation. Read here

Police High Command has explained the reasons for the six policemen attached to the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike.

Force public relations officer, Don Awunah, in a statement said the officers engaged in gross abuse of power during the rescheduled parliamentary re-run election in the state.
