Anambra State, Governor Willie Obiano has announced the postponement of resumption of schools in the state by two weeks.

The governor made the announcement in a statewide broadcast on Tuesday.

According to the governor, giving the rise in the incidences of COVID-19 in the state, schools shall not reopen on January 18, 2021, as earlier scheduled.

He said: “Rather, schools shall reopen after two weeks from today (Tuesday) to enable the principals and teachers prepare for the return of our children.”

Mrs Olufolayimika Ayandele, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Education District III, has urged the public and private school administrators to create isolation rooms in schools to prepare for the resumption of students.

Mrs. Ayandele told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Thursday that the development became necessary to forestall any further spread of the coronavirus pandemic in schools.

The Osun Government says Sept. 21 has been tentatively fixed for the reopening of schools shut down due to coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Civic, Mrs Funke Egbemode made this known in a statement in Osogbo on Tuesday.

Egbemode said stakeholders were expected to continue to put protocols in place toward the reopening of schools.

“This should be in accordance with the guidelines set by the Federal Ministry of Education,’’ she said.
