The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has postponed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates, 2020 Second Series.

This is contained in a statement issued  on Monday, by the council’s Acting Head, Public Affairs, Mr Damianus Ojijeogu.

According to Ojijeogu, the examination, which was initially scheduled to commence on Saturday, Nov. 14, will no longer hold as planned, due to circumstances beyond the council’s control.

The Delta State Government has sanctioned 41 teachers for examination malpractice during the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

This is contained in a statement by Delta Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Patrick Ukah.

Ukah said the decisions were based on the recommendations by the Examination Ethics Disciplinary Committee of the state.

He said, “They are to suffer deferment of promotion by one year and banned from the supervision of any school examination for a period of three years.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has postponed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, 2020 until further notice.

In a statement, WAEC Nigeria’s Head of National Office, Mr. Patrick Ehidiamen Areghan, said the examination scheduled to begin April 6, 2020 in member countries, was postponed as a result of COVID-19 pandemic currently ravaging the world.
