President Muhammadu Buhari has been rated high in his first month in office. NOI, a public polls institution, in its recent release said that 70% of its respondents approve of the president’s job performance.
Most of positives came from efforts to stabilize electricity, improve in security and perceived good intentions of the President.
12% clearly disapprove of his performance within the 30 days under consideration. This group either says that nothing has really changed or that it is too early to assess.
The assessment of the President’s job performance across the geo-political zone seems to reflect already known ground.
The highest rating of the President’s performance came from the North East with 87%. The greater percentage of those who disapprove of the President’s job performance within the month came from the South East with 22%.
Power at 55%, Security at 41% and Education at 34% are top on the areas the President is expected to pay more attention moving forward.
Meanwhile, the assessment may have become a PR evidence for the government. Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity, Garba Shehu took to his twitter handle to show off what he may consider a good start for his principal.
Mr. Shehu chose the slide that compared the years of former President Goodluck Jonathan with the one month of President Buhari.
Observers will note that according to the NOI poll, Dr. Jonathan began on a high at 78% but ended at his all-time low of 42%. Now, President Buhari began at 70% where will he end?
