boko haram attacks buratai's home

This may be an early test for the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai as his family house was attacked by suspected Boko Haram fighters.

According to Reuters, two people were killed and eight injured in the incident. Several houses were also burnt down.

This seems similar to the experience of former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh who lost his family home in Adamawa State to Boko Haram occupation for some weeks after the terror group attacked and took over some local governments in the state.

Major General Buratai who was appointed about one week ago, was not in his community when the attackers struck. He has been talking tough on his determination to wipe of terrorism from Nigeria.

His first visit to a theatre of war in Yobe was greeted by two suicide explosions at an Islamic prayer ground marking the eid-el-fitr celebration in Damaturu.

The Chief of Army Staff recently renamed the counter insurgency operation to ‘Zaman Lafiya Dole’ with a resolve to make the effort of crushing insurgency a matter of urgency.

How this attack will affect the morale of the Army Chief will be seen in days to come.
